Stayseeliz
I was talking to a friend about CC today and she almost had me convinced. Then I went home and looked at the pricing. If I have a K, 4th and 6th grader is it right that I have to pay for three foundation classes and two essentials classes? Like for the 6th grader you have to pay for foundations and essentials right? I think this would price me out of it. It would be over $2100 plus whatever supplemental materials I need. We've always used MFW. Maybe we should stick with that? I just want to make sure my 6th grader is getting everything he needs!!
Paula in MS
Essentials can be added in addition to foundations, but it is not required. You can choose to do foundations only if you choose.
stm4him
Another option is to put your two in Essentials (since you can't buy the guide unless you are in a community) and do the Foundations work at home. It is easy enough to implement at home and lots of people do that. Also, you can always get ideas from the moms in Essentials who will be able to tell you how they do it at home, what they did in class that day, etc. The only downside is not being able to sign up for CC Connected, which has a lot of great stuff in it. But there is so much available online that it really isn't necessary.
Stayseeliz
Thanks! We really want it for the co-op aspects of it and the motivation that comes with learning in a group. I don't think we could pull it off especially since we'd have one in challenge next year. It's just too much with 4 kids eventually being in it. Thanks! tm_burriss
We will have 1 in foundations, 1 in foundations and essentials, and 1 in challege A. We balked because of the price at first but are happy we did. Tutoring can help offset some of the expenses. Just doing essentials is a good idea too. The fees cover the costs for the building, tutors, and stuff like science and art.
