Soror
For those using Foundations what are you planning for next year? Do you plan on trying to get in for Beta testing for the next level? Hitting Essentials at a slower pace or switching to an entirely different program?
kirstenhill
For those using Foundations what are you planning for next year? Do you plan on trying to get in for Beta testing for the next level? Hitting Essentials at a slower pace or switching to an entirely different program? Is there anything definite about the next level of foundations being available for Beta Test next year? Or are you just making a guess that it might be? I didn't really have the possibility of that on my radar. My Pre-K'er will still be doing foundations next year (we just started, and will be going pretty slow since he is just about to turn 4). I had been assuming my current K'er would be more ready to try essentials again after finishing foundations. (I tried it with him during the first half of the year but I was having a hard time breaking it down into chunks small enough for his attention span). But I would definitely consider another beta test foundations level, for him depending on how his reading and spelling abilities come along between now and then. Soror
No, I haven't heard anything, just assuming as I thought there was some talk about this when I asked before.
FromA2Z
I'm unsure of my plans. We just started Foundations at the beginning of the year. My ds will be five in May and we'll be officially starting K in Aug. I planned on using foundations throughout K and starting Essentials in 1st. Though I don't know how many lessons it will eventually be or how fast we'll go. We do about 4-5 lessons per week, but I expect we'll slow down. That being said I really wanted to do AAR, but somehow got pulled in to buy Foundations during his first beta sale. We have been really enjoying Foundations though. So I may continue on, if there is another foundations 2. I may move to AAR, or do Essentials. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
silver
We had switched from AAS to LOE Foundations when we were about halfway through AAS 2. I think we'll have a month or two worth of lessons left in Foundations when we finish our Kindergarten year. So that will cover me for the first few months of 1st grade. I'll probably finish up AAS 2 (if we haven't already, sometimes I take a week off of LOE and do a lesson from AAS). I like AAS, so we may go back to that. Part of why I had switched was that level 1 was too easy for my son (he did a lesson a day for the 1st half and a lesson every 2 days for the rest) but level 2 quickly got to be challenging for him. I'm guessing he'll be ready for the AAS series again once we're done with Foundations. Another thought I've had is to go through Essentials at a 2 weeks per lesson pace (which would take two years). Or I may start WRTR. I think it will all depend on how well my son is reading when we're done with Foundations.
Soror
I'm considering going to Essentials and taking it perhaps at 2wks or so a lesson as well (depending on how she is doing of course). Dd is doing pretty well, or so I think. Her reading is coming along anyway. I had considered doing some Essentials with ds as well so that would be a bonus to only have one program for both of them.
