Miller Levine....need to know what I need to get and what ed?

Recommended Posts

Hello

My ds is an auditory learner and found out Miller Levine is better if I get all the components. I need to know what edition I need and what items to get. I am going to purchase through Amazon if possible.

I was going to go with Campbells Cand C. (Sorry do not know if this is a baby campbell or daddy campbell) but found out it is not good with auditory learners like Miller Levine is.

I appreciate help on this.

Btw: Ds finished BJU Life Science. He wants to dive into Biology but NOT with BJU. He hated it!!

Thanks!

Holly

I'm bumped this thread for you, but go here. Follow Handmaiden's directions in post 16. Follow them to the letter and you'll have an awesome year! You buy the student book, and get online access to the Student book, TM, videos, tutorials, a digital brief path, tests, test answers, student lab manual - not the teacher's lab manual which was an issue at times, quizes and more.

Here it is.

Thanks! In another thread, somebody was saying about putting zip code as 00000 not your own....Not sure what that was about. This is for the oasis signup. The account for: I selected homeschooler.

Holly

I'm trying to do the same thing today.

It appears to me as if Pearson/Oasis has changed the format of the form in the past couple of years. Some of the fields in Handmaiden's instructions no longer exist but there are new fields. such as how one will use Oasis. It wants to know know if we will place and track orders, Inquire only ane eUsage. I don't know which option to pick. And there is a dropdown menu with school type options which includes a homeschool option.

ETA: I opted for "inquire only" it seemed safest. I put in my real zip code and used homeschooler for the school type option. I then agreed to everything and am now waiting for processing.

Parrothead...

I got the confirmation email this morning with a temp PIN number. They said to change it to whatever pin number you want within 10 or less characters. 3% discount is availabe till 30 days. So now I just need to make sure I can still get online stuff when ordering the student book and access pack. crossing fingers! I am out of town this morning so I won't be able to do anything till tomorow. Any tricks I need to know before I do anything?? Will Handmaiden's instruction still apply with these changes??

FWIW, when I was getting physics materials, it was a two step process. I was able to get access to Oasis with one homeschool affidavit. But that didn't give me clearance to purchase teacher materials. I had to do a second affidavit through the PearsonSchool site. (Actually, since I was getting an AP level book, which is published through the college department of Pearson, it was even more complicated than that. But Miller Levine is a high school text, so I think it will be easier.)

I ended up buying the Teacher materials on a computer DVD just so that my access to them was unquestionable. But it also seemed that as a homeschool instructor, I should have been able to get the same material as a download through the teacher aids available on the college site. (Not sure if this is an option with Miller Levine bio.)

I will say that I've been super pleased with the Mastering Physics program. Not only is it a great tool for my kids to get immediate feedback on the problems they are doing, but I can track their progress and set up schedules. So persevere, because there is some pretty nifty teacher material at the end of this particular rainbow.

I had to get the computer out to access the sentence diagrammer for dd. So I went ahead and tried it. I purchased it using handmaiden's instructions and used special offers A. I also used my almost maxed out credit card so if there was a charge it wouldn't go through. I bought the teacher pack. It seemed to go well without any problems. The only thing is I don't know where to go to access the teacher pack. What exactly did I get for free? Is this a physical package? I was under the impression it was digital.

We did this in 2010-2011. It was a lifesaver for me because I could not be very involved in homeschooling that year. The website was wonderful. I also went on youtube and found many relevant experiments for my daughter to watch online.

I did it!!! Now nail biting begins that they do not charge me for the teacher access....shudder. It did show up as zero after I did the special terms. Did I need to get anythig else?

Holly

I don't know. All I bought was the teacher access since I already had purchased the student book from another source.

That's cool! I didn't think you could do that. I thought the free teacher access was only available with the purchase of the book.

Well, I haven't accessed it yet. I don't know how. I didn't find anything in the books today about the access. It will be my luck that I can't get the access because I bought the wrong book.

The only thing you might consider is a TM for the lab manual. There were labs that couldn't be completed without it. (They said thing like look up the value in the table you teacher procides) If you are using another source for labs, that obviously isn't an issue :)

Before my 3% discount expires... Did I need to get any other books they offer with this?

Thanks!

Holly Truitt

They are telling me that because I'm a homeschool teacher that I can't get the access pack.

Off the phone now.

"This product is not free and is only available to schools." So I'm not going to get anything.

Good luck with your Holly.

I think you have to get it with the book to get the online access free. I think it is reasonable that you have to buy from them for them to give you the online access. It is also best to avoid Pearson's phone support. I've never known a homeschooler that came away from their phone support happy. Email is the only way to deal with Pearson. It must be a completely different support department and the two never communicate because they give opposite answers. :glare:

Sorry it didn't work for you Parrothead.

Oh, that is all right. It was a bonus thing anyway. I'd not counted on it when I started planning, and it cost me nothing so I'm okay about not having it.
