KeriJ
Can I use one of the themes without having watched the videos, or going through any other aspects of the program? I know many will say not to, but I also have friends who have done it and say it's fine.
freesia
You could do it if you understand the method. If you can, watch the TWSS videos. Anne
G5052
Yes, you can do a decent job, but most people will do a *better* job having watched the videos. I watch them every summer because I teach paid IEW classes, so I've watched them maybe 6-7 times through now. And I learn things *every* time. There is so much more to the program than just the assignments in the theme books. I don't think that you get the full understanding of the program without the videos. luvnlattes
Yes, you can do a decent job, but most people will do a *better* job having watched the videos. :iagree: I have not viewed the videos but my 12yo took an IEW class at co-op last year and I sat through almost every one, so I had a good idea of what was taught. This year I am using the Following Narnia theme program with him. Even though I already understood the key word outlines and openers, there have been times where I've felt I would have given better/more clear instruction if I had been able to watch the video. I seem to struggle with story/sequence assignments the most. So yes, I think it is "doable" but you'll be missing out on some aspects/benefits of the program. At least, I feel I am. If we continue with IEW next year, I will either have my son take the next class at co-op, or I will purchase the videos. I'm still undecided. DragonflyAcademy
What age is the Ancients program geared to? We are currently working through the SWI A with my oldest, 11.. and we watch the dvds together.. Story Structure outlining is hard! We are stuck on that now.. and taking some extra time to try and nail it down... But we are doing ancients next year and I wonder if I could switch him to Ancients IEW...?
