Is DS ready for FLL?

DS is 5.5 years old. He knows short vowels, consonant blends, consonant digraphs, and double consonant endings. He is doing Adventures in Phonics B and Building Spelling Skills A. His penmanship is average 5 year old boy, but he does not mind writing. Is he ready for FLL...or do we need to wait a bit? Oh, I have looked at the samples...I just wanted advice from those who have used it.

I think he sounds ready. It is a gentle introduction to grammar which is mostly oral.

I would start him on it and see how it goes. It is very gentle. My 5yr old found it very boring.

He'd probably do fine. FLL1 is very slow and gentle.

Dr. Jones will be 5 next month. She started fll in December. She really likes it. We do it about twice a week. There is really only optional copywork. While she does do a small amount of copywork every day I do not use fll for it.
