umsami
I'm always looking for fun ways to help teach multiplication to my kids. I found this guys' videos online--and they are really cool. He also has some free and low-cost apps---but IMHO, everything you need is here. I was excellent in math...getting As all the way through calculus and statistics. Still, I realize in retrospect that I was good at "plug and chug" but I never really "got" math until I started teaching it to my kids. :) Here is his Tic Tac Toe trick for 3s, 6s, and 9s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2p5eC19za0 Here's his trick for the 7s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6oJ5rw9mys He has lots more on his youtube channel. There's also a video using a normal phone which teaches you the 7s and 3s.
poiema
We have been utilizing YouTube this week for skip counting/multiplication songs. Right now they are watching Multiplication Rock (School House Rock), but earlier we were enjoying HaveFunTeaching videos. YouTube is awesome! Thanks for the link. :)
