I just started going through Teaching the Classics. I think the meat of the program can be enjoyed without the DVDs, keep in mind I've read the book but I've only made it through the first DVD. I have no experience with Reading Roadmaps, I'm stalking the Internet for a used copy!

Exodus Books has the best price I've seen on Teaching the Classics and sometimes they have used copies, FYI.

Thank you. I just don't do well watching lectures. I zone out. I need to read the material. And thanks for the tip about Exodus Books.

I have only watched the first lesson on the DVD and it was years ago, but I use the book to teach literature terms and I used it along with A Thomas Jefferson Education to make our read aloud list. I don't do the lessons as written, though. I scheduled out the terms into 24 weeks. I will use the socratic questions to guide my kiddos' narrations soon too.......

HTH!
