hands-on-mama Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 E-book or Hard copy? Which do you prefer? Quote
mo2 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Hard copy. I do a lot of flipping back and forth between pages/chapters/sections of the book, and that's not as easy with an ebook. Quote
MommaOfalotta Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Hardcopy definitely. Its my homeschooling bible! I do so much highlighting, etc. Plus, Im not a fan of ebooks or any of that. Im a real book kind of gal :) Quote
hands-on-mama Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Should I go ahead with the 3rd edition?? Quote
bugs Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Anything I reference constantly would have to be hard copy. TWTM - hard copy. Quote
redsquirrel Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 If you like using ebooks as reference then it would be ok. I can't imagine using WTM as an ebook, but some people like it. I would go with the 3rd edition. I own the first and the third editions and I borrowed a copy of the second. The third edition has some major upgrades in specifically the logic section. It is very helpful. There is also a handy dandy section in the 3rd edition with a section on past suggested curriculum and why they are no longer suggested. I like having that in there. Quote
Melissa in Australia Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 hard copy. I have so many notes and bookmarks in mine, it just about falls open at the pages I need. :coolgleamA: Quote

Mrs Mungo Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Should I go ahead with the 3rd edition?? Hardcopy. Mine is full of sticky tabs, highlighting and has SWB's signature! ;) You definitely want the third edition; the logic and rhetoric sections were heavily updated in that edition. Quote
Eagle Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Ebook for me. That way I always have my copy with me. I can make notes in the ebook just as I could on paper. Quote
Hunter Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Hardcopy 1st edition. I especially prefer the 1st edition grammar stage instructions written for books that were not published by PHP. Quote
*Lulu* Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 E-book I like being able to easily carry it with me for when I am waiting on the kids and planning. Quote
*Lulu* Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I'd say that is a matter of personal preference. I prefer the hard copy. I'd have to agree about it being a matter of personal preference. It is the only book I routinely use in e-book form and I still check out the hard copy from the library at least 2x a year. Quote
julikins Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I've been looking for the 3rd edition in ebook format and haven't been able to find it for Kindle. It's available for Nook, though. Let me know if you see it for Kindle because I would really like to buy it. Quote
Mom28kds Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I would personally get a hard copy. Which edition would you get if you only need the grammar stage? Quote
mskelly Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 BOTH! I like having the ebook with me whenever I am at the library or just have a few minutes on my hands to revisit a section. The hard copy is good for for marking up and flipping around. Quote

Let me know if you see it for Kindle because I would really like to buy it. I got mine from amazon.com. Just did a search there for "well trained mind kindle" http://www.amazon.com/The-Well-Trained-Mind-Classical-Education/dp/0393067084/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1358824194&sr=8-2&keywords=well+trained+mind+kindle Quote
julikins Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I got mine from amazon.com. Just did a search there for "well trained mind kindle" http://www.amazon.co...ned mind kindle Unfortunately, if you follow the link, that's for the 3rd edition hardcover. Oh well, I keep checking. Quote
thewaka Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Unfortunately, if you follow the link, that's for the 3rd edition hardcover. Oh well, I keep checking. That is so strange because it *was* to the kindle edition when I copied it. I went to my "Manage My Kindle" page and used that to go to the kindle edition page. It says that title is not available to customers in the US! Here is that link. I checked and I still have the third edition for kindle of the Well-Trained Mind downloaded. Have you emailed Peace Hill Press about it? http://www.amazon.co...nw_myk_ro_title Quote
jenbrdsly Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Hard Copy, 3rd edition. FYI I tried over year ago to host an online book group for the WTM here on my blog. It was really interesting reading all of the comments and hearing different points of view about each chapter. The only problem was, I fizzled out about posting by chapter 14. I really should start it up again! Quote
icecream Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Hard copy! Easier (for me at least) to look things up. Quote
