Faithr
Ate Slouvaki at local Greek diner a couple hours ago and have broken out in tiny red bumps all over my face and neck. Kind of itchy and sunburned feeling. What could be causing this?
Robin M
What are you most allergic too? Depends on what kind of oil (Peanut, olive, balsamic) they cooked in, or could be one of the vegetables or herbs. Were there any nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc.) in it. Take an antihistamine and see if it goes away.
Guest inoubliable
I don't know, but I'm guessing you're not alone. I googled to see if there was something in slouvaki that would be something commonly allergy causing and found this http://www.cafepress.com/+allergic_to_souvlaki_kids_hoodie,122308499
Faithr
Thanks. I don't know that I am allergic to anything except that the Christmas before last someone gave us one of those edible arrangements and I ate a lot of strawberries and my face broke out like this, only not quite as badly. First time that ever happened to me. I do have trouble with MSG triggering migraines. I took a benadryl but my oldest dd just came in and informed me my face was all puffy and ordered me to take another one. So hopefully I will sleep well and wake up all beautiful instead of red, patchy and swollen! That's funny about the sweatshirts, steins and caps! Apparently I've joined a club I never knew about! Lol!
Guest inoubliable
Hope you feel better soon! Benadryl should clear it up, just might need a full dose and a few hours. I'd take another full dose after the four hours, too.
Arcadia
Sometimes it takes more than one dose of Benadryl to clear up food allergies. Hope you feel better soon.
Tiramisu
Faith, I don't know how old you are, but in my family a lot of the women start to have allergies in middle age. You may want to start to write down what you ate before reactions because you may start to see a connection. Preservatives seem to have become a problem for me, so it's not necessarily the food but what's been put in it. There's a chance there could have been some kind of preservative put on the edible arrangement to keep it fresh or fresh-looking and the same thing was in your Greek meal.
