shanvan Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Oh, no! The thread is up. That means I have to get cracking! Back when I can face the day with a better attitude.... Okay, back, but I'm not sure my attitude has improved. No music here b/c I still have a low level headache left over from yesterday. Maybe later. Done: -Checked on mom and her car is being fixed by Db (which stands for dumb brother in this case, not dear b/c he is so bad at helping out mom--oh, and he's a mechanic.) -made eggs for breakfast -Broke the news to Dd that she is being timed on everything today b/c of her dawdling issues which are holding up subjects we do together. She is not pleased, but she got the dishes done in 5 minutes instead of her usual 1/2 hour where she stops to fool with the dog, spends 15 minutes picking out music etc. -scheduled Biology w/ Ds so he is back on track -put in a load of wash leftover from yesterday - made bed -wrote a couple of lesson plans on Skedtrack -printed Biology tests for Ds -posted a few times here (and got sidetracked--I admit.) Taking a cue from Cindy and posting less things to do so I can finish them all and possibly post later... To Do: call Dr for referrals for Dd & me so happy this is done! I hate requesting referrals! make my thyroid ultrasound appointment done! help Ds w/ 4H agenda for tonight groom dogs more schoolwork, of course up next--History together Quote
extendedforecast Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Today I have to tackle the following: Kitchen Dresser Bed-change sheets Dining table I'll probably add more if I am successful with these things. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Today's music, courtesy of ds15 is Audio Adrenaline. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Dishwasher is running for the first time of many today. I am on my highest dose of Aleve and curcumin. My feet are swollen and hurt so badly I can barely walk. But I can do it! (I am woman, hear me roar!) Quote
Lizzie in Ma Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Happy Tuesday! Got up and fed all the creatures, furred, feathered and finned. Made lunch for dh and put on a pot of coffee. Woke up kids for chores and school, helped youngest with math. Packed up Ion LP Pro I just got that broke to go out for repair, I've been using it to digitize my Mom's old albums for her. Worked on stuff for my Shakespeare class for 4 hours. Put dinner in the crockpot because I am going to see Les Mis at 3 with some friends. It's been forever since I've done that! Spent some time in praise for all my blessings, that felt good and some time in petition for friends and family going through some tough times. Made a double batch of sea salt caramel for little one who gets braces on next Tuesday and asked me to make it before she gets them on. Got woodstove going and brought in wood because it is raw, damp and chilly. Now listening to oldest play Kingdom Hearts and talk to her boyfriend on speakerphone. So blessed she has that boy, we love him. Youngest is playing Sims Castaway on her DSi. At this point, the rest of the day is free except to put on veggies to go with crockpot dinner. :) Quote
Susan in TN Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I managed to clean out/organize one shelf of one kitchen cabinet this morning :hurray: I approach this afternoon with fear and trembling - after dropping off my 2 eldest to their respective classes, I get to take the 4 youngers with me to get the van emmissions checked, return an item at Staples, and shop at Sam's Club (and try to accomplish all this in an hour and a half), and the freezing rain has returned and my head is pounding and my 4yo has been crying all morning and is desperate for the nap she won't be getting and my ds8 has a swollen and occassionally bleeding nose from bumping it this morning Pray for me. I'm thankful that my feet are feeling perfectly fine. :) Dinner tonight is baked chicken of some kind. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Shanvan, I hope that your headache gets better. :grouphug: Cindy, you go girl! Lizzie, I want your day and your attitude of praise! :hurray: Good job, Susan on the cabinet decluttering! I hope that your day goes better. :grouphug: Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 11 am check in: Hand washed a whole stack of dishes that wouldn't fit in the dishwasher. I don't have time to let them sit until the next dishwasher running because dd has another bread order due today and I need the kitchen clean plus all the baking things ready. Explained to ds the hard truth that if he ignores the easier way I organized his work for him and insists on doing it "the hard way" (out of pride I think) that I will have no sympathy for him when it indeed ends up taking him 3x as long to do. I don't want to hear any pity parties on not getting free time today. :nopity: Discussed history with dd. Next up: Dry and put up all the hand washed things. Hand wash the pans and knives that I haven't gotten to yet. Wipe down counters. Sweep kitchen floor Work with dd on spelling and Japanese. Quote
extendedforecast Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Today I have to tackle the following: Kitchen Dresser Bed-change sheets Dining table I'll probably add more if I am successful with these things. Update: I've changed the sheets and worked on half the dresser. I also gave the baby a long bath and made lunch for the little ones. The kitchen will probably take about an hour. I plan on starting it in about 20 min. When the older kids get home, I'll have them assist me with the dining table. I have random things on the table that need specific attention. It's a much larger project than it sounds. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Angi - get those clothes put away! Cindy - I think I have a dining room table like yours. Right now I"m pretending it doesn't exist. Margaret - stay warm. That is seriously cold! Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Ds got his butt in gear and got his history/lit. done to my specifications. We had a wonderful discussion on Beowulf. Quote
shanvan Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Update: My headache is gone (thanks Jean), which is amazing considering the troubles I've had today getting anything done. Both Dc are moving like they are sloughing through mud. think tomorrow a timer for every subject and a pep talk is in order. Now to finish out the day.... Math make dinner Writing - Dd done, Ds still working Have Dc Groom dogs before 4H while I make dinner 4H meeting get that last load of wash done - in the dryer try to organize school books in living room-waiting til tomorrow remind Dc to do homework -- Yes, it looks like Ds is going to have to do some schoolwork after 4H. I refuse to wait to go over subjects b/c he is taking forever on something that was assigned this morning! Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Next up: Math with dd. She can do handicrafts on her own or we can count painting the cat's bathroom as that. Then grocery store so we can get the bread order done. Quote
Susan in TN Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I managed to clean out/organize one shelf of one kitchen cabinet this morning :hurray: I approach this afternoon with fear and trembling - after dropping off my 2 eldest to their respective classes, I get to take the 4 youngers with me to get the van emmissions checked, return an item at Staples, and shop at Sam's Club (and try to accomplish all this in an hour and a half), and the freezing rain has returned and my head is pounding and my 4yo has been crying all morning and is desperate for the nap she won't be getting and my ds8 has a swollen and occassionally bleeding nose from bumping it this morning Pray for me. I'm thankful that my feet are feeling perfectly fine. :) Dinner tonight is baked chicken of some kind. Afternoon out was OK. Line at the emissions place was short. By the time we got out of Sam's Club it was pouring, so I got fairly soaked in 32* water and decided to skip Staples. Everyone's evening activities have been cancelled due to the forecasted ice. :hurray: I'm going to have some hot lemon water and putz around for a while. And finish putting away the mega sized groceries. Quote
