Ginevra
I really don't have a good system and there are always, always too many sitting in my inbox. Pages and pages that I haven't looked at yet. I delete a good many just because I can't deal with them all. I do have a zillion sub-folders for moving things, but even then I have to spend a while every so often moving tons of them. Do you have a regular practice, such as spending X amount of time every Y days?
shanvan
I don't have a routine, really. I just make sure to delete some every single time I look at an email or write one. I try to delete incoming emails as soon as I have dealt with them, or file ones I want to save right after I read them.
Tardis Girl
My inbox has some ridiculous number... like over 4,000. Seriously?? Look forward to hearing from some who have better habits than I do. Of course, I do receive some auto mailings (some sales ads, etc.) that I should really get off of. But that's my only idea. regentrude
I use three different email accounts. 1. One address for work. Read daily. Email related to my classes gets sorted in folders by class and semester. Other email remains in inbox. 2. One address for personal correspondence. Read daily. One folder for shopping, one for homeschooling, rest remains in inbox. 3. One address for online forums/junk. Gets checked only occasionally, mostly to delete dozens of messages unread. Unsubscribe periodically from junk.
texasmama
I deal with email several times a day, deleting irrelevant and putting things I want to keep in sub-folders. I respond right away to emails that need a response. In my inbox emails that contain things that are not dealt with, including amazon order not received, etc. When I receive them, I delete the email. I currently have 11 emails in my inbox, most of which are ebay, alibris or amazon orders I am awaiting. A couple of emails have to do with meetings that are upcoming. I hate a cluttered inbox so I delete everything I can. ETA: I have four email accounts - three professional ones and one personal one. The above references my personal email. texasmama
You are my hero! I thought I was doing well staying around 50 or so! HA! It is not always this nice. I do not allow it to go over one page in my inbox, though. :)
Guest
HA! It is not always this nice. I do not allow it to go over one page in my inbox, though. :) I am impressed! I have tried having more than one e-mail account, but I hate having to log out and log back in to a different one. Plus, I don't know how to do that from my phone. There is a homeschool e-mail loop I'm on that I've been thinking of unsubbing, but it also bums me out to be off and literally "out of the loop." Not sure what I should implement to take care of this stuff better.
Luckymama
I use three different emails. The first is our "family" email I share with dh. We answer, delete, or put into folder all emails every day. Another is our "junk" email used for purchasing things. Every once in a while we clean it out. The third email is my homeschooling email. I decided this year to deal with all email every single day (it's actually a check-off item on my dail to-do list!). I answer, delete,or move emails into folders (one for science Olympiad, one for math Olympiad, etc) twice a day-----with my first cup of coffee and then after dinner.
