JFSinIL
OK, fellow WTMers who already have mastered using Dropbox - how am I messing up? I have ordered a Dropbox for Dummies-type book from Amazon, but it won't get here until next week. I wanted my tons of photos backed up. I could not figure out how to do this, until I dragged an icon from my Pictures file on the 'puter to the Dropbox icon. Took a loooong time, but eventually all the photos in that file appeared in Dropbox. Yeah! But now they have disappeared from the computer Picture file. Oops - maybe dragging the file over was a mistake (but how else to get stuff into DB?) I go into Photoshop Elements - can't search for the photos there. Photoshop sez it doesn't recognize DB. I fear I will have the same problem with Shutterfly (haven't tried it yet). How do I either put the photos back on my 'puter (but still have them backed up in DB) OR access them from DB so I can edit and make photobooks and go on my merry way. This is not intuitive for this 53-year-old Mom. I do have a PhD ABD in film, but am from the days of dinosaurs - negatives, paper photos, actual FILM, etc. Computer stuff is Greek to me. Caroline
You have to copy and paste in order to back things up in Dropbox. If you drag, it moves them instead of copying the files. Instead, right click, copy, paste back into the folder on your computer to move from Dropbox to your computer. Right click, copy, paste into the Dropbox folder to copy to Dropbox. Can I do this with an entire file - or do I have to do each of thousands of photos one at a time? Slap me with a wet noodle, but I am that clueless. (hey, still after all these years can't figure out how to add a photo to my posts here, either!)
