amo_mea_filiis.
I got the ear dr to call in drops for my (feels like) clogged tubes. The nurse insisted the drops be left in the ear no more than 20 seconds. Well this is the same script I've had with 2 previous surgeries when i was told to leave them in for 10+ minutes. The med info that comes with the drops says 5 minutes minimum with tubes. Drops are obviously safe to get behind ear drum. I am laying here ignoring the Drs order of 20 seconds. I like being able to hear. Anyone else wonder what a dr is thinking sometimes?

Parrothead
Thinking about this some more some doctors are just pill happy. You could consider trying another doctor. My husband tried a new doctor. That guy was awful! So then he tried another one and so far he has been great. Certainly. I've actually run out of specialists in my state that deal with my autoimmune disease. To be fair there are only 2. Offerings are limited as far from civilization. sbgrace
I got a bunch of drama going against a doctor's opinion recently. I learned to be less open in the future. But no, I don't have a problem doing what is medically correct and ignoring a doctor who is wrong.
violamama
Sometimes a medicine may have unknown limitations or effects discovered even though it's been on the market a while. It was your nurse, not doc? I would ask the pharmacist for sure. There's a difference between going against your doc and advocating for yourself. amo_mea_filiis.
Just finished letting the drops sit again and i can finally hear (normally)!!! It's temporary, and the tubes will clog again, but i know the drops worked! I watched a timer and it took about 40 seconds before i heard the weird fizzle of the drops "working" through the tube. What in the world would 20 seconds do?!
