JeneralMom
Crafty 911 Kids, dh, and I want to do something fun, simple, and personal for new bubs. We need clothes still so I thought of getting white cotton bodysuits or tees and having everyone draw something. I also thought of doing natural dyes. If don't want to mess with fabric paint with the kids. If you have done this did you use permanent markers and did it work? Do natural dyes (like beets) work on cotton? Ideas? Rosie_0801
Beets fade very quickly. You can try using gum leaves though. They don't need a mordant. Otherwise, permanent markers will work.

Cinder
We also did the Sharpies. You can also drip rubbing alcohol on the colors and it will let the color spread--a nice effect. When we did it the area to get the alcohol was stretched over a plastic cup and rubber-banded on (I guess to catch any alcohol drips or maybe just to limit the color spread). After the coloring was dried we were told to run the shirt through the dryer to set the ink. Then we could launder as usual. The colors have kept well and it inspired dd to color other shirts with pictures. I did buy her new blank tshirts for this. :D
