Rebates

UGH! I forgot to save the UPC codes to the headphones I received and now forgo the $20 rebate.

I know some people don't do rebates at all.

Curious if you all do them and if you remember to save everything so that you get them.

I normally am really good about this, but dropped the ball this time.

I despise them too, but I do them occasionally. Last fall we were reseeding our lawn and got back $30.00 or so from Scotts for lawn fertilizer.

However, those we just had to write down the UPC code and not actually cut it out of the bag. Love that kind!

Ugh--hate them. Dh says if they're going to rebate why not make it easier for the customer and just give the discount when you buy? Last one we did was a couple years ago. I took care of it right away so no problem there. It was for printer paper from Staples. No more--not worth it for me. Now I just buy cheaper paper from bigmart.

I used to do them a lot more. Now if they require an actual paper form rather than an online one, it has to be a really good deal for me to consider it.

These two Dilbert cartoons sum it up for me:

Those cartoons are hilarious (and true!). We bought our son a phone (yes, at age 8!), but it was a good deal - $100 phone with a $50 rebate. Of course I never sent the rebate paperwork in and as soon as I realized it, it was too late. I am definitely the person they are marketing to with rebates...I stink at remembering to do them.

Some really ridiculous rebates are for beer. I currently have to cash one for $3. Seems pointless, but I suppose the 2 minutes it took me to put it together is worth $3. I just don't see why they can't discount the stupid beer $3.

1. They want the rebate to be limited per household. If they discount the item, then people stock up and they end up "giving away" much more than they expected.

2. A lot of people forget to fill out the forms and send them in.
