Jean in Newcastle Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I was reading an article today in the entertainment section of the newspaper and it had it spelled both ways. Quote
Erica in OR Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 You have to watch this Downton Arby's spoof, if you haven't seen it already. One of the final lines is "Dude, it's not 'Downtown Arby's', it's 'Downton Arby's'". Erica in OR Quote
Liz CA Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Geez, the author did not know how to spell Dowton Abbey??? Plain unbelievable! You need to write a letter to them and straighten them out. :) Quote

Jerico Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Do you know how much self-control I exhibited to not correct my MIL when she said "downtown abbey." EVERY DROP OF SELF CONTROL IN THE UNIVERSE! Of course, my 5 year old had already told her that I hated her dogs. True story. Quote

Speaking of mothers driving one crazy with odd pronunciations my mom won't pronounce Home Depot correctly. She says depp-o, like Johnny Depp's last name with an O at the end. As for Downton, when I firs started seeing it here I was reading it as Downtown. Now I'm wondering if that wasn't how it was typed out. Quote
