Cosmos
Our kitchen chairs are on their last legs. We received a free table with four chairs several years ago from some friends. One chair was slightly broken already, and another one collapsed completely. They aren't constructed well, obviously, and the remaining two are getting wobblier and wobblier. We have a couple of very old unmatched chairs standing in for the broken ones. I hate all of them! So I think it's time to look for new ones. Any recommendations one where to look? Furniture stores? Online? We have an Ikea 3 hours away, so that's one possibility. Comfort and durability are the most important factors to me. I almost think we should each get our own individual chairs. Dh and I have a 12 inch height difference and no chair is comfortable for us both. I don't suppose there's any magic solution for that. Ds is a little shorter than me, but of course he's growing! Do you have any chairs that you absolutely love?
saraha
We bought our kitchen chairs from an auction that was selling used TGIF's restaurant furniture. We have had them for YEARS and they are in fabulous shape. Not a wiggle or anything, and only paid $20 a chair. Is there something like this you can watch for? I will have to look around to see if we have any options like that. I definitely like the idea of super-sturdy commercial quality.
besroma
I would look on Craigslist for high quality chairs like Drexel, Bernhardt, etc. Many people inherit estates and sell very nice furniture on Craigslist.
Onceuponatime
We got very sturdy restaurant style chairs for our dining room a few years ago at affordableseating.net I think they are reasonably priced.
