Night Elf Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 We have Gluten Free flour never opened and I don't really want to throw it out. Can I make biscuits or pancakes with it? Do I treat it like regular flour, as in the same amount to prepare the food? Does it taste much different than white flour? This is left over from when dd20 was thinking of going GF. Good grief! Tess in the Burbs Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 If you aren't used to the taste of GF flour you may not like anything you make with it. If it's just plain GF flour you could sub it in any recipe but I found adding some baking soda(1 tsp) helps with it rising better. Make cinnamon rolls....the sugar/cinnamon flavor would most likely overwhelm the flavor of the the flour. Quote
Susann Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 As Tess said, if you haven't acquired the taste for gf you prob won't like it. Also, because the gluten isn't in it, you'll need to add something to help the ingredients bind like xanthan or guar gum. Quote
Night Elf Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 Ugh, figures. It's a small box so I guess if we don't use it, it's not that big of a loss. Quote
