plansrme
Any comments, observations, etc, about GWU? It is on my freshman daughter's list, and other than getting lost there while running in DC in a previous lifetime, I know nothing about it. All she knows is that it has a gymnastics team that might be interested in her. Any other info would be most welcome. Terri
creekland
It's a VERY urban campus (not a bubble campus in a city) and is generally well-known around here for International Development or Poly Sci majors. However, the last student from our school who went there (current freshman) went there for Theater as they gave him decent money and he loved DC. I haven't seen him back at school yet to know what he thinks now. Of those who go to look at it, the urban campus is a big turn off (in our semi-rural area). Most here who don't mind or want cities like having a campus in a city setting. YMMV as that's just a personal fit deal.
plansrme
So true. I think seeing Wm&Mary and GWU on the same trip will be a good compare and contrast experience. Terri
ValRN
DS's trumpet teacher is faculty at GWU. During the summer when DS was discussing music schools/departments of music to apply to, he stated that he would not recommend DS apply to GWU department of music. He said it as a sidebar while we were discussing a different college and made a comparison to how things are done a GWU, so I did not get a chance to get clarification. And since DS was not thinking of applying, I did not feel it was needed information. Try this website http://www.studentsreview.com/DC/GWU_comments.html for student reviews. Some reviews you have to take with a grain of salt because the grammar and spelling are horrific. HTH

HTH Wow, that site is something else--helpful, yes, but it is going to be like choosing a hotel based on reviews from TripAdvisor--EVERY place has bad reviews so that it looks like they're all poor choices. I think I'll not mention it to my daughter but use it to give her suggestions on things to look for, think about, etc. What a great resource, and yes, the reviews for GWU were enlightening.
