heidip2p
I could really use some help sorting some things out. Currently our kids are in grades K, 2, 4, 6 and 8. I also have a 6week old, 2 and 3 year old. (Yes, we are done:))Anyway, I have been tring to do Core F with the 6th and 8th, core B+C with 2nd and 4th and core 4/5 with my K. It's not getting done. My 6th and 8th can do their core on their own and then we go over the comprehension ???'s together. I think it might be easier to do something else for the 2nd and 4th and K. I think reading from one book for history might make more sense. I can also having living books avilable for them to read on their own. I love the idea of curriculum like MFW where everyone is included. However, everytime we have tried it someone seems to be left. Either too easy for some or too hard for others. My kids are really crafty. I would love a history spines that includes a lapbook or notebooking. I just feel like there are not enough hours in the day to do what we have planned. ByGrace3
What about Biblioplan? You could combine and they have coloring pages and crafts. We love it!
Mom22ns
I love SL, but I would never do 3 cores at a time. If your olders like it, keep it for them and use a program that fits a broader range for the rest. You could switch them all to MFW, then let each one go independent with it when they hit high school.
ByGrace3
Also for the rest of this year you could just drop core 4/5 and let your Ker sit in for the B&C read alounds. My Ker enjoys the core C books we read.
Terabith
I assume you have to do language arts and math separately for all the youngers? For history, why don't you just use SOTW and read library books/ watch science themed shows for science. You can mix the read alouds from both Sonlight cores. The older ones will enjoy the kindergarten read alouds as well. I'd make a book basket of good books of all types (fiction and nonfiction), Horrible Histories, Cartoon History of the Universe, and the You Wouldn't Want to Be books for the time period you are studying. Marsha
What about Trail Guide to Learning? I love Sonlight, but we have 8 and Trail Guide is much more doable.
