Just Kate Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Dh surprised me with an iPad Mini (big surprise...side story below) and I am trying to figure out what kind of case to get for it. I have always used Otterbox or Griffin for my iPhone. I don't know if I want something that bulky though. I don't anticipate letting my kiddos play with it much as they each got their own electronics for Christmas (thanks to my brother - another HUGE surprise). Suggestions? So, my dh was working a lot and we had decided to spend around $100 on each other for Christmas, plus stocking stuffers. We don't normally get to do this, so I was pretty excited. Since dh was working so much (and working nights), I found a necklace that I loved (from www.vintagepearl.com) and asked him if he wanted me to order it for myself. He said fine and I did so and went on my merry way. On Christmas morning, when I was opening my gifts, I had one final gift, wrapped in the toe of my stocking. I opened it and it was an order confirmation for an iPad Mini. Dh got a Christmas bonus in the form on a Walmart gift card. He went to many Walmarts on Christmas Eve, but none of them had the iPad Mini in stock. He finally just decided to order it. I was so excited!!! Not only because I am getting an iPad Mini, but because he thought to do that for me. :) Quote
Forget-Me-Not Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 I just put a Smart Cover on mine. It protects the screen so I can slide it into my bag or whatever. I bought a gel cover for the back but I didn't like the feel of it and it interfered with the cover. I think I'm just going to stick with the cover for now. I have an Otterbox on my iPhone too, but I feel like it gets more "action"--I throw it in my purse with my keys, let my kids play with it, walk around with it, etc. if I let my kids use my ipad I have a strict rule that they stay sitting on the couch with it. TrixieB Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 We have a SupCase cover bought from Amazon and like it. It encases the mini and is a smart cover. Also it folds into a stand and there's a little tab to hold it all in place while being used as a stand. The smart cover from the Apple store made me nervous to use with kids, since it's only magnetic and doesn't cover the whole mini. I could envision somebody picking up the mini by the cover and having the magnets come loose... crash... $$$ oops. Quote
specialmama Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 We have a Gumdrop Drop Tech Series case. They're super strong so you can let the kids play without worries about dropping. :) Quote
