Saxon 54 done (mostly) orally?

Has anyone done Saxon 54 with no or minimal writing? This is for my 8 yo DD who's good at math, but doesn't like worksheets. Going through Saxon the usual way would probably not work well at all. So, does this plan seem feasible? And why am I thinking about math curriculum on Christmas?? I'm going to go eat another truffle. Thanks for your feedback :)

Not exactly the same thing, but we found that our daughter does the review set much faster when one of us works along with her using a chalkboard as kind of a race. We call it "Speed math" and whoever gets the problem right first gets a point. You could try working the problems out together on a board (or paper) and having him do more of the writing himself as he's able to. I had the same trouble with my daughter and her writing assignments a few years ago. Her hands weren't ready for long writing sessions, but she was good at the work itself. So we did a lot of work where she dictated what she wanted to say, or she used a computer.

Doodle (8yrs) is also good at math, but giving him a worksheet of 30 problems doesn't work well. Recently I have been sitting with him for the review problems and acting as his scribe. Occasionally I will ask him to pick up his pencil and write the answer himself. I also tried dividing the worksheet into 3 sections and giving play breaks and/or snack treats between each section. After Christmas break though, I believe we will be returning to Singapore since the lengthly worksheets of constant review in Saxon is wearing him down. I do not want him to dread math.
