TravelingChris Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Why, oh why are we getting rid of incandescent lights? They don't make anyone sick like fluorescent lights. I just spent a woozy, too hot hour or so in the commissary (military grocery store) because I had to have my coat and hood on so that I would be at least somewhat protected from the awful unshielded fluorescent lights. They make so many of us sick. I am happy that at least we have the income to stockpile incandescents and I will= lots of them. I have no problems with LEDs but they don't have them in all sizes at all. But, for the meantime, I think I will insist that if my dh wants to save money, he can go commissary shopping. I will stick to stores with covered lights that don't make me sick. Quote
lmrich Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I agree. Our library is wonderful except the lights. It makes it very hard to look for books with your eyes shut! Quote
cathmom Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Fluorescent lights have always had a serious effect on me, so much so that it interfered with my schooling. I hate detest and despise them. I have always had certain stores that I just can't shop in because of my sensitivity. I'm sorry you're dealing with it too! Quote
Mergath Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Fluorescent lights give me grand mal seizures. Even the compact ones. As you can imagine, I'm not a fan. Though it does make a handy-dandy excuse when someone gets snarky about me being a SAHM. Once I remind them that I can't be around fluorescent lights or computers for more than an hour or so before the auras start, there isn't really much they can say. Quote
sparrow Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 My son breaks out in hives from fluorescent lighting :tongue_smilie: . Quote
Woodhaven Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Me too! They make me feel tired and give me headachs. Quote
Desert Rat Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 I never realized they gave me headaches until I quit working when I had my oldest. Miraculously my migraines all but went away. Then I realized I worked in florescents all day, every day. I wear sunglasses now. They help; I just look weird and think of terrible 80's songs. (I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can....) Quote
