I just dried my children's winter gear in the dryer along with a few crayons....and as you can imagine...there is melted crayon on all of it....is it a lost cause...or is there something we can do about it??? anything at all????

Goo Be Gone and some patience. You'll be good as new.

If you can't get the "color" out of the drum use some oxyclean paste after you remove and rinse. Don't put oxyclean ontop of the goo be gone resin left behind, get off as much as you can first.

DON'T use oven cleaner. (I *thought* it seemed like a good idea at the time... :001_rolleyes: )

ETA: I'm meaning oven cleaner in reference to cleaning the inside of the dryer itself (not clothing). I managed to get most of the crayon out of the clothing by repeated washings, Dawn dishwashing liquid applied to the spots, Spray & Wash, etc.... I had blue crayon, though, not red. Red may be harder to remove, imo.

bwahwahwah... its the story that never ends...it just goes on and on my friendddddddddddddddd ( to the tune of The Song that Never Ends :p)

I have had that happen twice. The first time, it was a lost cause, got under the plastic fins that help tumble the clothes and would leak out every time it heated up... we didn't have two weeks to work on it and DH was in the military (ACUs are expensive to replace) So, I replaced my dryer.... second time it happened last year at a beach house we rented :/... cleaned for hours, dryer still stained but colors didn't run on clothes. I used that Orange pumice grease/hand cleaner in a bottle and it worked well with the clothing and most garments came clean. It is found in the automotive section with degreasers. WD-40 as recommended by crayola has never worked for us.

what about the clothing...are those a lost cause??

I used Fast Orange hand cleaner (it stated on the back to use on clothes as well) I found it at Dollar General for two bucks and it worked really well. Only a couple items were stained. and they were white.

OK...now I am back to my dryer...there is no crayon on the inside of the drum, except in little crevisis that I can't really get to, or on a rubber gasket like thing in the back...and I put in some old light colored sheets to see what would happen and they came out with small speckles...not many, not large, but there, none the less. Do you think if I were to just run the dryer for a while the sheets will absorb the color and then it would be safe to run the dryer with clothes? I have all of my one sons clothes all wet waiting for the dryer and we don't live close to anyone, or a laundry mat.

Any more additional thoughts for me???

I could do a commercial for Shout Advanced. The coats came out nearly 100% clean...a few stains but NOTHING like how they went in. I used nearly 3/4 of a bottle on all of the items (coats, hats, gloves, scarves) but it was worth it. Don't know if I would have needed as much as I used...but oh well...I am happy. Wish I had a "before" picture, just to show people...it's amazing!!

thanks for all of your support and help.
