momsuz123
Hi all, today we put down our rescue dog of 12 years. His name was Cody. He was rescued at 6 years of age. Totally deaf, because the previous owners didn't take of him. He had Addison's disease, so he threw up a lot, until we got that under control. But even with all that, he was a great dog. Super mellow. He was a yellow lab, golden retriever mix. Sorry, I am rambling. Just trying to think of something "fun" to do to help remember Cody. I know my girls aren't going to be up much for school tomorrow either.

Can you spend some time tomorrow telling favorite stories and looking at pictures? Spend some extra time with your other dogs tomorrow? Bang!Zoom!
They could write poems, stories, draw pictures, act out a play, maybe help find some photos with him in it....something to help memorialize him. Sorry to hear about this, dogs become so beloved; real members of the family. :(

caroljenn
Aww! So sorry about your doggie. Maybe you can find your favorite pictures of Cody and put them in a collage frame, hang it on the wall with his collar? That's what we do when our pooches pass. <
Paige
I'm so sorry for your loss. One of our dogs died this month too. He was old and had been very sick so we were expecting it but it was still hard on the kids. One of my girls got a stuffed dog that looks a little like him. She made and decorated a little tag with his name on it, hung it around his neck, and put it under the tree. It was really cute and we all kind of like it there now. He may have to come out every year and sit under the tree.
linders
I'm so sorry. It is the pits that our canine buddies have shorter lifespans than us. I've lost 2 old ladies and still miss them.
Stayseeliz
I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost our twelve year old beagle earlier this year. It's so hard. My kids planned a little memorial and it was very sweet.

SunnyDays
Oh, I'm so sorry. We lost two dear doggie friends in the last five years, a beagle and a yellow lab. They were both much loved and we still miss them every day. :grouphug: I agree, forget school tomorrow, read books together, bake cookies, look at pictures of Cody. And yes, spend time with your other dogs... they will be confused at first too, but they will adjust quickly. Hugs to you all.
Rose in BC
Sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose a pet. They're such an integral part of a family.
Juniper
We lost a beloved horse a month and a half ago. My kids are still not quite ready to do anything. I have pictures and some of her hair to make into something, but we just aren't there yet. A couple years ago when we had to put down our pug, we did decorate a picture frame and put a cute photo inside it.
