Stayseeliz
Am I crazy? We leave to travel in 5 days but I just feel so gross and bloated. My scale broke so I didn't realize it but I regained the 15 lbs I lost during the summer. I don't want to wait two more weeks.
MamaAkins
Better to go ahead and start now, even if you end up having a "cheat" day here or there over the holidays. You will still have less to lose after Christmas (and feel better) than if you just go wild and eat anything for the next two weeks! Good luck! I've been losing weight for the last 3 months and recently decided to try to cut as many carbs as possible (even before the holidays). Susann
:grouphug: I know that's what I need to do too! I decided that I would wait till dds go back to college. Trying to juggle gluten free, low carb and the holidays is just too much for my poor little addled brain right now! Good luck with it and let us know how it goes. And, because I know you'll fight your way through, here's an early :hurray:
AdventureMoms
I would go ahead and do it, but don't get too panicked if you cheat some. Be aware that you'll be dealing with carb cravings, but I'd go ahead and do it.
Stayseeliz
I'm just really bummed that I gained back the weight I tried so hard to lose during the summer. Bleh. But we'll be at my mom's house with actual FOOD and not at a hotel so we should be okay. I was going to wait until we got back from my parents' house and start in two weeks but I tried on clothes to figure out what to take next week and holy moly I was uncomfortable. I know I won't lose 20 lbs in 5 days but it will get me started and I'll feel better. I don't normally go crazy and eat sugar, etc anyway but I was obviously cheating somewhere. Bleh. I'm excited about getting back on the wagon though. I need it.
Dandelion
I hear ya... I lost 17 lbs by the beginning of October for DH's West Point reunion, and have gained most of it back. I'm considering starting back on a diet this week too, as silly as that seems. I say go for it! Allow yourself a little treat here and there, so you don't feel deprived. Do you drink tea? I bought some really yummy teas when I was dieting, and that was my treat. Zero calories plus it's healthy. Something like that would be easy to take on your trip. Good luck! :-)
Stayseeliz
I'm on day 3 and I feel so so much better already. I'm not as bloated and my clothes fit better. This is worth not eating crap at Christmas! lol
Mama Geek
I am in kind of the same boat as you. I joined a gym hired a personal trainer and switched to a fairly low carb high protein diet 2 weeks ago today. So far I am down 6 lbs, have worked out 8 days plus a fair amount of walking 2 other days. I have met with the personal trainer 3 times now. I am sore, but planning to work out on the bike tonight and do some upper body workout tonight. We are leaving either tomorrow afternoon or Saturday afternoon for more than a week. It will be a tough test, but I so want to stick to exercising and eating right. I want to loose the weight and feel good enough to go tent camping with my dh, dd and 8 year old niece this summer among lots of other things I want to do. DawnM
I am waiting until after Christmas and probably after New Year's.
LarlaB
I'm on a very low-carb diet (5 months and counting) and am still going, especially thru the holidays...and I say go for it. Yes, you are a bit crazy timing wise, only because of the serious carb cravings that may occur for the first few days, and I"d be too cranky to do that over Christmas. But if you know what you're in for, rock on!!! Really, even hugely reduced carbs will make you feel so much better, pretty quickly- you don't have to do 25grams of carbs per day...maybe aim for 100g- that is still VERY reduced for the average american, particularly during the holidays when that could equal a piece of toast and a cookie. Stayseeliz
I've had some kind of head cold virus thing so I haven't wanted to eat anything. I've made myself eat but I have zero cravings!
