reign
This is gross be warned!!! My 6 year old has what looks to be a giant zit on her chin. It has been there for 5 days. She woke up with a huge white head. The next day she picked it off by accident. The next morning it was back! Day 4 (yesterday) it popped it self after a long hot bath. Puss was all gone it just looked red. This morning it was huge and white again. What is this? I'm thinking its time to see a doctor. The car broke tonight so I won't be able to get an appointment till tomorrow evening (unlikely) or Tuesday . I want to stress that this is my 6year old not a teen and that the blemish is huge. Like a pea cut in half. Blah
Mommyof4ks
Staph? Keep it covered and wash anything she has touched. That was how our staph nightmare started a few years ago, one little nasty looking pimple.
Snickerdoodle
It's possible she has a splinter or something in there after falling or rubbing her chin along some surface. I'd take her in.
reign
Thanks for the speedy replies! I'll be taking her in tomorrow for sure.
Snickerdoodle
Any news?
sbgrace
Was it staph? I think pimples on kids that young are usually staph or strep related (on face for likely staph bacteria). In that case bactroban will clear it right up.
Tiramisu
Not to alarm you, but if it's painful, I would suspect MRSA. I've known two people with this exact presentation and it turned out to be MRSA in both cases. For both, it cleared VERY QUICKLY with appropriate antibiotics and NEVER CAME BACK. So don't worry, but go to the pediatrician, have them send a sample to the lab, and start antibiotics. It will be fine, but don't wait to see a doctor. Hugs! Ewe Mama
How is she doing?
Renthead Mommy
I had something that sounded exactly like that while we were stationed at Oki. They called it a strep infection, but I was privately told it was probably MRSA but they won't say that over there to prevent any sort of panic. Expect antibiotics. BugsMama
My Baby had MRSA more than once, and this is exactly how it started.
Mommyof4ks
How is she doing today? Did the doc know what it was?
reign
I went in Monday. The doctor said it is a wart. She did have a couple warts on her foot that i showed her. I'm not sure why the wart had puss. Blech... Anyways the doctor took care of the warts on her foot. I have a appointment for a dermatologist for her face. I want a second opinion just to make sure. The pimple part did pop again and it just looks very red and bumpy. Poor kid.

I am with the others and suspect Staph (MRSA), dd had it on her knee and I thought it was a spider bite. If it gets any bigger or she starts to run a temp go straight in! I would also go ahead and make sure she is taking a probiotic. Can the dermatologist prescribe antibiotics?
reign
I didn't think it looked like a wart either. But I did google (cause that's so reliable :p) and there are pictures that look very similar. We will also see a family friend who is a PA over the weekend. So I'll probably ask him to take a look too. I was really thinking staph too.
