Jean in Newcastle Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Hi everyone! Today we're having fruit and veggie trays with dips. What fruit or cut up veggie would you like to bring? I'm bringing jicama. Very yummy! How was your weekend? Did you seize it? Today's not quite totally random question: Do you live in a small town? Quote
Parrothead Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Oh, yes I live in a small town and really don't like it. I've lived in smaller and they were worse. This is about as small as I go. Here, have some mixed melons. As for seizing the weekend, can't say that I did. Yesterday the migraine come back about 1p. The good news is, it is gone today. Hopefully not another one for another 3 years. Thanks everyone for all your support while I was dealing with that. Quote
Elinor Everywhere Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I'm bringing sugar snap peas - I can taste them already! And I live in the 5th largest city in the country, so I guess I most definitely do not live in a small town. :tongue_smilie: Quote
Caroline Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I don't live in a small town. I have never lived in a small town. My dad grew up in a small town and didn't want to raise his family there. I will bring the raw broccoli. Quote
Myra Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Definitely small town - population 1600 or so.........but we do have a stoplight! Ha! And I'll bring tangerines....love them perhaps it's because I have memories of receiving one in my stocking every year from Santa. Yikes - I am dating myself, aren't I? Joyful noise in our house today....as I picked up my eldest from college this morning (freshman) and the two boys are back at home! Nice! Myra PS Jean, I love these Sunday chats. It seems Sunday nights are always my emotional "down" time and it's nice to just connect. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 Today we're having fruit and veggie trays with dips. What fruit or cut up veggie would you like to bring? I'm bringing jicama. Very yummy! How was your weekend? Did you seize it? I did seize it, but only because my kids made me. Yesterday ds15 had a 2 1/2 hour belt exam (not just him, some was waiting his turn!) and is now a black belt candidate in taekwando! This evening we've been invited to a staff Holiday party at the Y, thanks to my dd11, who isn't technically staff but was invited anyway. Today's not quite totally random question: Do you live in a small town? We live in the "little town in the big city". By that I mean that we are part of the urban sprawl of a very large city but our actual downtown is only two streets and even that doesn't go longer than a block each way. I thought of this question when I was in the grocery store today and the checker told me that my husband had walked in and was waiting for me by the door! Myra, Sunday's are my down time too. Quote
laughing lioness Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Hi everyone! Today we're having fruit and veggie trays with dips. What fruit or cut up veggie would you like to bring? I'm bringing jicama. Very yummy! How was your weekend? Did you seize it? Today's not quite totally random question: Do you live in a small town? Raspberries! Good week-end. I spent the day reading and taking notes for myself, sorting the study and making bins of stuff we are done with. I bought a labeler today along with supplies for cutie fridge magnets for teachers gifts for our co-op. If dh would just get totally better, things would be lovely. I live 1 mile outside of a very small town, in a very unpopulated state. Quote
elfgivas Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 hmmmmm.... i think i'll bring tzatziki.... and tiny boiled potatoes to go with :drool5: we live 10 minutes drive from a small town..... no stop light.... time for tea, ann Quote
MamaAkins Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Hi everyone! Today we're having fruit and veggie trays with dips. What fruit or cut up veggie would you like to bring? I'm bringing jicama. Very yummy! How was your weekend? Did you seize it? Today's not quite totally random question: Do you live in a small town? I'll bring bell peppers (red and yellow only-no green ones), cucumbers, and broccoli. The weekend has been seized.....and now I'm exhausted. Christmas dinner/social with my "mom" friends on Friday evening; Christmas shopping on Saturday, followed by work, and then church, another Christmas party, and more shopping today. Dh and I have two more small presents to pick up at Walmart this evening when we go to town to pick dd15 up from her youth group Christmas party. After that, I'm DONE...well, other than wrapping! ETA~yes, we live in a small town. Two stoplights, a post office, and an elementary school....but no other businesses other than 2 old gas stations. We do, however, live about 10 miles from a larger town. Quote
Lisa in SC Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I'll bring clementines because we have loads!! Our weekend was nice. I got to see dh, which is always wonderful since he works and lives 3 hours away through the week. Yesterday we finally finished Christmas shopping except for some PVC pipe. Today we had professional photos taken of the family for the first time in 8 years or so. We (as in the kids and I) do live in a small town. I mostly love it although there are occasional incidents of favoritism that are mildly annoying. When we join dh this summer, we'll either live in a fairly large city or a nearby suburb. I adore the area we're moving to, so I hope it will be as good a move as I'm anticipating. Although we'll all be together again, so that will make it good, right? Right! :D Quote
Rosie_0801 Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I don't know how successfully I can reply to a Sunday chat, seeing how it is lunch time on Monday, but I'll do my best. :p I've never eaten jicama. I've never seen a real one either, so I'm thinking of trying to grow some next year. I'm only a novice gardener so didn't want too many things to manage this year. Naturally I had too many things anyway so what difference would it have made? On my way to your place, I'd stop over in Queensland to buy some yellow dragonfruit, which I will pretend will be allowed through Customs. They are the tastiest things in the whole wide word, except maybe for dried apricots filled with sugared marscapone. My weekend was stressful as usual, but I did get the floor scrubbed so that was something; and I found the eggs ds smashed over the floor before they dried. Naturally he did that after I'd done the scrubbing... I do not live in a small town. I live on a dot that shows up on google maps if you zoom in far enough, twenty minutes from a town of 6,000 people. I like it here, though for dd's sake I wish our friends were less than an hour away. Quote
Scook86 Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I would bring watermelon. Everyone loves watermelon!......I think. Our weekend was okay. It was Dh's last days of being off from his foot surgery. It's hard to get back to normalcy after him being off work for almost 3 months. :( We live in the suburbs. We like it. Quiet but convenient. Denise in IN Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Hi everyone! Today we're having fruit and veggie trays with dips. What fruit or cut up veggie would you like to bring? I'm bringing jicama. Very yummy! How was your weekend? Did you seize it? Today's not quite totally random question: Do you live in a small town? Yum...fruits & veggies! I'll bring fresh strawberries. Great weekend. We seized it! Christmas caroling Friday night. My family went, but I skipped out due to sore throat. Got some clean-up done around the house. Feels great! We had our sunday school Christmas program Saturday night, and two church choir performances today. Lots of music this weeken! I'm tired. I do live in a small town of about 2,000. Love it! Hope everyone has a great Monday! Quote
