happypamama Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Please keep this non-political and give me some real answers. According to this link (though I did not watch the video), Governor Corbett has decided not to create insurance exchanges here in PA: http://www.repwilltallman.com/NewsItem.aspx?NewsID=15867&utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=http%3a%2f%2fwww.repwilltallman.com%2fNewsItem.aspx%3fNewsID%3d15867&utm_campaign=The+Latest+on+Obamacare I haven't found more information about this yet, but what does it mean for me? Does it mean that PA will not be expanding Medicaid coverage? Does it mean that there will not be a low-cost available health insurance program for adults in PA? (PA used to have something similar to CHIP for adults; they stopped that a few years ago.) Does it mean that I will personally *not* be required to buy health insurance nor face a penalty for not doing so? Can someone enlighten me as to exactly what this means for me? Quote
QueenCat Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 It just means that the federal govt will run the exchange for your state. You'll still have one. Quote

Lanny Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I believe about half of the states are doing the same as PA. The problem is that if the states agree to have their own exchange, at this time, they have NO idea of what is required or what it will cost the state to operate. Better to leave it to Uncle Sam..
