Jean in Newcastle
Good Morning Fellow Hivers! It's a new day. My goals today: Clean kitchen very very well. Clean bathroom very very well. Get an emergency load of clothes in the washer with stuff we're going to wear. Pick up living/dining room very well. (Fortunately this won't be hard because of all the tackling I've been doing lately.) Greet my friend and her toddler. They are coming for lunch. We're having grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. Go swimming at the Y with my friend and her toddler. I plan to sit in the shallow baby part with my friend and chat while her little girl splashes. Get swim tests for my kids while we're there. (Multi-tasking.) Dinner? I think I need to pick up some veggies at the store on the way home. Zumba tonight.

Jean in Newcastle
Sigh. My visitor just called. She's still coming for lunch but doesn't want to go swimming. Of course, I said that was ok and of course we could just visit at my house. But the whole reason I suggested going to the Y to swimming in the kiddie area is because my house isn't set up for a 18 month old and we don't have appropriate toys. And my kids are 10 and 15 and at the pool they could have something to do too. And I could multi-task and do the swim test that I need to have done for the kids. Vent over. Now to clean the house so at least the 18 month old won't die in the first 10 minutes from swallowing a lego or something.

I'm sorry your well-planned afternoon did not work out as you had hoped! I understand completely how difficult it can be to "roll with it" when plans change! I hope you are still able to have a nice visit with your friend.

Julie Smith
Youngest got a bad bump on his knee yesterday. So today it hurt to walk. That meant he got a wagon ride on our Thursday outing. He is HEAVY. :glare: He got pulled to piano lessons, grocery shopping (I just got a few things - and he rode in the cart), and the library. Then it was all up hill home. Eldest pushed on the steep parts. But oh my, youngest is HEAVY. Youngest is feeling a bit better, but still crawling around since it hurts to walk on his sore knee. It was a bad bump. Jean in Newcastle
Called my sister and had a total exhaustion meltdown complete with shuddering sobs on the phone. Maybe I should do this more often. The kids loaded the dishwasher and the washing machine and found toddler toys in the shed just to make me feel better. Now I'm going to scrub the **** out of the kitchen.

Well, you can chalk it up as "multi-tasking"....at least you got a good workout in while running your errands! Hope your little guy's knee feels better quickly! MissKNG
I'm trying to resist the urge to get some take out from the local Mexican restaurant..... All school is done today except some math. My house is pretty clean and the girls are done making some gifts that they wrapped and put under the tree! The only other thing we really need to do is pay the van payment at the bank and we are heading out in a few minutes for that.
Jean in Newcastle
Noonish report - After taking some deep breaths (thanks, Jenn!) and some adrenal stuff, the kids helped me to: Clean the kitchen Tidy the living and dining room. A whole bunch of stuff has been put on my bed, stuff that we wouldn't move for adult visitors but are too dangerous to have out around a toddler. Vacuum the living room, dining room, hall, stairs and landing. Clean the bathroom. Laundry all sorted and one load started. (Not necessary for company but for my sanity) Brownies baking. Kitchen cleaned again after dd10 got done with the brownies. Toddler toys washed and dried and put out in the living room. I just heard a car door slam! Kids are making the grilled cheese. Jean in Newcastle
3 pm check in. Visitors just left. They had a good but very energetic time here. It was a bit strange since our visitors only spoke Japanese and my kids don't but they seemed to make themselves understood ok. My kids are leaving me for a half hour to go down to the library. I'm taking a nap and am going to ignore the kitchen stuff that needs to be done (again) now that the guests left. And I'm ignoring the laundry that needs to be switched around too. I'll get to both of those later this afternoon.
Julie Smith
6pm check in. I'm going out to dinner with a girlfriend. ETA: But I might chance our plans to a slighty closer restaurant. After my earlier adventure, the shorter the walk, the better. :)
MamaAkins
10pm check-in.... Just got home from a marathon shopping trip while dd15 was at her National Honor Society's Christmas Social. I got a lot accomplished in 2 1/2 hours. Of course, I still have a lot left to do, but at least I've made a large dent in my list! Anything still left on my to-do list for today will have to carry over to another day. Time to put my feet up and relax for a little while before bed.
