KarenNC Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 We've enjoyed the Great Courses high school level lectures on world and American history, but they end with the 49ers, which we are rapidly approaching. If you used these as part of your history studies, what did you use next to cover the rest? A different GC series? Something online? I feel using these have added a lot to our understanding and I'd like to continue. This is cross-posted from the middle school board. Quote
Sebastian (a lady) Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 The PBS series American Experience is pretty good. We were able to find a lot of them on Netflix. It also looks like many are viewable online You can sort them by historic period (to some extent). And if you click on the title of the episode, there are features like primary resources and maps. There is also a teacher resource area that might be useful. Quote

While I do use a lot of documentaries to supplement, I'm hoping for some actual lecture-style resources as well. I have enjoyed Prof. Linwood's way of bringing in different aspects and interconnections on the topics---he does a much better job than I could---and I'm looking for something along those lines. I'll have to go poke around places like Hippocampus to see if I can find something. Quote
