Hannah
Don't send me the mail if it doesn't apply to me!! And put 'restrictions apply' or whatever in your banner ad if your free shipping isn't worldwide free shipping. You're lying in your ad. That's all. AKshanmar
LOL! I SOOOO agree. Shipping is such a huge issue up here in Alaska, and we are still a part of the US. UGH. I once had a limited amount of money to spend on an order, which I spent a long time putting all together, to stay within budget. I had looked for the small print, that said "continental US only" regarding the free shipping, but it only showed up, when I hit submit. $30 for a $100 order. No thanks. Sigh. Lily_Grace
Yep! Adding insult to injury are the ones who insist on not only exempting us from free shipping, but charging us double because "it's going overseas". No, it's going to New Jersey. The military takes it FREE from that point. (I'm looking at you, Kid Advance!)
ondreeuh
Another Alaskan here. I am always frequently shocked at the shipping prices. What drives me crazy is the places that don't ship USPS. FedEx and UPS are CRAZY expensive when you can't go via ground. Then there are places like Lego Education that charge inflated shipping just because they can. They charge a minimum of $28 shipping to AK, and more if it's over $100. I wanted to buy a CD and it would have been $28 - that's criminal. How hard is it to include USPS in your mailing options so that you can use flat rate boxes? The regular Lego site offers free shipping to the continental US and Canada, but not AK. However, I ordered Pick a Brick stuff from Lego and it only cost like $7 to be shipped from Poland! Why can't Lego Ed get it together? I ended up buying some other things along with the CD and it would have been like $45 to ship it to my home, but only $10 to ship it to my mom's. She can fit it in a small flat rate box and send it up to me but it shouldn't be that hard. Playmobil won't honor free shipping to AK, and a set I ordered through Costco cost me $20 to ship even though it was advertised as "shipping included." Bah humbug. athena1277
Then there's the situations like the one i had with Build a Bear this year. I had a code for a percentage off my whole order. Many things on ehtier web site at the time said it would ship for free. I chose 2 items, both that were supposed to ship for free. When I entered my code for the discount, they took off the free shipping. They said "free shipping does not apply with this code" or some similar nonsense. I didn't end up with much of a discount when they made me pay shipping.
Hannah
Well, I agree they aren't being very thoughtful with not putting that information up front, but I would be shocked to find an offer with free shipping from a company overseas. International shipping rates really are that high. Nothing is truly free. They need to pay for that shipping somehow. Bookdepository.co.uk does offer international free shipping,so its not unheard of. I've learned from experience that it won't apply to us, but getting the emails does irk me - they have my shipping address from previous sales after all! Just take me off the mailing list.
