Guest All4HisGlory7
I am about to homeschool my 7th, 4th, and 2nd grade children in January. Grammer is my passion and I cant seem to find the correct curriculum. I am looking for something that will give us a fairly intensive, strong, foundation (that includes diagramming) that I can use for all 3 kiddos...(We need to "start over" to get the basics in place) Any suggestions? boscopup
R&S Grammar is well known for being rigorous, particularly in the older grades. I think the 2nd grade book was ridiculously simple, but then again, how much grammar does a 2nd grader need to know? Your 7th grader could start in 6th or 5th.... your 4th grader could start in 4th. You could wait until 3rd to start, or use the 2nd grade book if you want. It's not awful, but not as good as the others. Grades 3-5 all cover the previous years' topics and add on more depth, so you can start at grade level anytime during those years.
besroma
We love Rod and Staff English. We did most of grade 2 orally because it is *a lot* of writing for a second grader. The amount of writing in grades 3 and 4 were more in line with the respective grade levels. We also enjoy MCT.
SilverMoon
I'll third Rod and Staff's English series. I like First Language Lessons better for grade 2, though.
