lilbean05
We love living books and use them a lot for science. Winter is Here! by Heidi Pross Gray is a beautiful living book that encourages the love of family while also sparking a bunch of questions about nature, like hibernation, migration, what animals eat in the winter, why a tree loses its leaves, etc. She also has a book about Autumn called Autumn is Here! that the kids really love too! I have seen it both in hardcopy and in kindle edition. Worth a look!
momto2Cs
Thanks! I see I can "borrow" it on my Kindle, so I'll give it a look!
lilbean05
What other living books do you all like to use for science?
Farrar
We have so many individual science titles, I couldn't list them all. Two recent titles enjoyed here were about different scientists in their fields. Hidden Worlds was about a microscopist and the various discoveries he has helped people make. The Most Beautiful Roof in the World was about a botonist exploring the connections between plants and animals in the rainforest - she brings her children along for their first trip in harnesses up to the canopy with her. Both books were really good because they both taught the science and gave a sense of the different things scientists do. Both scientists had a real sense of excitement about their work that came through in the books.
