mlktwins Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 http://www.amazon.com/Europe-7-Continents-Evan-Moor/dp/1609631307/ref=pd_sim_b_2 I just saw these (the link is specific to Eurpoe, but they have them for all 7) in a new teacher store the other day. Has anyone tried them? If so, opinions??? Thanks much!!! Quote
plain jane Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I bought the entire series and intended to use them on their own but found the books rather dry and dare I say, dull. What I ended up doing instead was using Trail Guide to World Geography by Geomatters and using these books to round off that program. They were a much nicer fit that way and I found the two programs worked well together. Quote
Hunter Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I refer the older series that emphasizes the "Five Themes of Geography" which have been abandoned by the Nation Geography Society much to my disappointment. Currclick still has the old series, I think. Quote
zoo_keeper Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 We use the series. Having bought them all in pdf form, I'm pretty committed to continuing with them. So far DD7 has done North America and is halfway through South America. Sure, they are dry, but I needed an open and go geography curriculum that DD could do without me (I work outside the home, so while DH oversees the completion of schoolwork he doesn't actively teach, for the most part). I also wanted something more in depth the EM's Daily Geography (which we use for DD5, a few levels ahead because otherwise the younger levels seem like fluff, IMO). Quote
Satori Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 We're doing EM's Daily Geography and I was just thinking of adding the continent-specific ones. Good timing for this thread! I have the Evan Moor Africa continent workbook, they seem to have two different versions. Good to know another young one (zoo_keeper's dd7) is using these, that is motivating. We've been sailing through Daily Geography and slowing down and going more in depth sounds appealing right about now. Quote
zoo_keeper Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 I've found the cheapest way to get the series in pdfs was from bookrags (with coupon), bringing each file down to $13 (at the time, about a year ago). Quote
Kyr Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 We've only done the South America one. I like them but the kids found them dry and tedious. Our compromise was to take our time and do it in small chunks. Quote
