1bassoon
How do you decide when to call the dr. and ask if it's the flu? My 8yo dd had a 36 hour fever virus this weekend, just a high fever, then it went away. I ran a temp of 100 last night, and this morning woke up with 102. Achy and a cough (non-productive). I'm thinking I'm going to call my doc - we have friends who had the flu, and although we never saw them, I'm still worried. It's EVERYWHERE down here :( Advice? Guest inoubliable
I'd call the doctor this morning, if I were you. That sounds like flu. :( Feel better!
1bassoon
Yeah, remember in August when I didn't go in and didn't go in, and ended up with pneumonia and bronchitis for 6 weeks? NOT going for a repeat performance. **Gah** They JUST gave away her last appt. for the day. *headdesk* I'm first on the callback list, but otherwise 2:20 tomorrow. Boo. :glare:
1bassoon
I was hoping they'd say, "Hey! It's the flu!" and give me some tamiflu to shorten the course. My dd12 has a blocked ear this morning, and I'm taking her in. I was HOPING to see her regular pedi, b/c I think she'd prescribe me tamiflu. But she's not in today. Boo. Guest inoubliable
Can I ask a stupid question? What does a doctor do to treat the flu? My whole family has never had the flu. I always figured if we got it we would ride it out since it's a virus. Nothing, unless you can get in within 24 hours of your first symptoms. Tamiflu is what they give you. Other than that, they'll just tell you to go home and rest and drink lots of fluids.
Cera
Achy is a main sign of the flu. That with a high fever would lead me to call asap.

Funny how a bout with pneumonia changes when you decide to see a doctor. Signed SJ, another who had pneumonia and didn't go to the doctor at first resulting in two and a half weeks of being so very, very sick. I hope you feel better soon. 1bassoon
Hey y'all - NOT the flu!!! Which makes me actually happy; I think with a day in bed and some liquids I might feel human tomorrow. I did get my kids flu shots today, and will get one myself once I'm better. My dh's boss' family has the flu (yes, the actual flu), and I'm hoping he doesn't get it himself.
