Mimm
I'm not the best math teacher so I've always planned at some point to outsource this particular subject probably before I outsource anything else. My oldest will be in 7th grade next year and I'm thinking we might put her in an online class for math. She's in Singapore 5b and will be through 6a by the end of the year, but almost certainly not far into 6b. Math does not come naturally or intuitively to her, but I wouldn't say she is horrible at it. She does not enjoy it. I've had experience in the past with The Potter's School and have a mostly good opinion of them. My brother took classes with them while living with me for a year, but he never took a math class with them. Does anyone have experience with them and their math classes? Their website says: TPS uses the UCSMP curriculum, highly regarded for its emphasis on problem-solving and its overall rigor (we are referring only to the praiseworthy junior and senior high school version -- not the highly-criticized elementary version). I'm not sure what UCSMP is, but does anyone here have experience with this curriculum and would you say it's a decent one? And finally, any information about other online math classes would be great. :)
Amazed
After my son finished Singapore 6B we started with Thinkwell math. He's strong in math, so it may not be the best fit for your daughter. But, we love it! He's taken 7th grade math, and is part way through 8th grade math this year. He watches lectures each day and the teacher is fun and entertaining. Most of the exercises are online which has it's plusses and minuses. The positive is that I don't have to grade very much! The downside is that the problems online are all multiple choice. Every 4 days or so, there is a printable worksheet to do, which then needs to be graded by hand. Overall we feel like it's a strong math program, and it works great for my son! EKS
I really like Derek Owens' math classes. They are very well done.
AvasMom
I second Derek Owens! My formerly math hating dd just told me tonight that she loves Geometry now! He is great with helping her too. He has twice now made little extra videos to explain something to her. I really can't see us using anything/anyone else for the rest of her high school math. dereksurfs
We are using TabletClass and really like it. I also strongly considered Derek Owens as well. Both are very customer focused and friendly to work with. Jann in Texas, also a member here, does online classes which are highly regarded. Mimm
Derek Owens classes don't seem to have actual class times with a teacher where she can ask questions, am I understanding this correctly? Can she email him with questions and problems? I'm really wanting her to have that available.

Recently he sent my son an extra video explaining something for the physics course he is taking.
