I am trying to improve my housekeeping and organizing skills, which stink a lot of the time :)

How do you all organize your fruits and vegetables in the fridge. I tend to end up with a jumbled mess of bags which makes it hard to see what we have. Therefore we waste too much hidden produce.

Is there anyway to help dog nose prints from turning to concrete on windows? It is yucky looking as soon as I clean it, and I usually have to use a magic eraser then vinegar.

If you had to pick a not super expensive carpet vacuum for stairs and bedrooms what would you get. And what are your thoughts on area rugs over carpet in certain areas.

Is it worth it to get a carpet cleaner, or do you just rent one/have it done every so often? I have a hooverfloormate which is the hard floor equivalent, it totally grosses me out to see how much nastiness it pulls out of my wood floors, despite daily sweeping and weekly mopping.

I did something similar to this in my fridge and it has helped a lot.

I don't have any pets that leave nose prints but I have a 2 year old and I usually windex his handprints after I declare them absolutely precious ;)

I love Rug Doctor. We get one 3-4 times a year and it is worth it to us. I used to have a steam cleaner(Hoover) but never got the results that I get with the Rug Doctor.

We ended up buying a steam vac when we bought a house with carpet. We use it twice a year throughout the house. Plus, it is nice to have on hand for any accidents.

I used to be opposed to area rugs over carpet because I thought it was redundant. But, we now have a rug in front of our couch and am glad I finally gave in. :) But, my husband works late nights on the couch a lot and eats chips and salsa there....yea....lol he isn't changing that habit.

I shop frequently and use up the fruits and veggies within 2-3 days of buying them so they don't tend to get lost in the bottom of drawers or anything.

I have an extra fridge in my garage so the one inside can stay more tidy. I have restaurant supply store salad bar containers for storing veggies and fruit and use the bins fro other stuff. The ones in my fridge suck.

My parents and I bought a Bissel big green machine and share it. It was not cheap but man that thing works good

This really depends on how often you shop. I find shopping more often and not using the crisper drawers because mine are opaque and I forget to open them and look at what I have, encourages me to cook using what we have. I use a lot of frozen vegetables too, and the only fruit I keep in the fridge is oranges, the rest is on the counter in a bowl.

I would train them not to do that, but I don't have dogs so I honestly don't know whether or not that's even possible.

If you had to pick a not super expensive carpet vacuum for stairs and bedrooms what would you get. And what are your thoughts on area rugs over carpet in certain areas. I personally think rugs over carpets are ugly. Lol but I don't even like rugs on hardwood because I think it defeats the purpose of having wood floors. I have my carpets professionally cleaned every year or so, and spot clean with carpet cleaner spray for the rare times food happens outside the dining room. Storage and moving are the main reasons I wouldn't buy a carpet cleaner.

We will be about 20 minutes from the closest decent grocery store. So I am going to have to switch from several quick trips a week to once. I think that will help save some money too if I'm not in the store so often!

I don't have area rugs anywhere but the bathroom now, and we have no carpet.

The new house has tile all through the downstairs and carpet in the bedrooms. I'm not thrilled about having carpet, but at least it isn't in the main living areas.

I am browsing vacuums right now for carpet, we use a shopvac on the hard floors, but that won't work! I'm thinking I'll go with a Hoover wind tunnel.

I'm not sure I've got it in me to train the dogs from looming out the windows, actually I'm not even sure I really could without being mean or punitive over something that isn't actually bad behavior.
