jkl
My almost 7 year old and 4 year old have developed a love of fairy tales. We'd been doing a different one every month using Bravewriter's Jot it Down as inspiration, but I think I'd like to do more of them in a hands-on way. I love things we can all do together! Any suggestions? Thanks!
Miss Tick
You could look at the Evan Moor literature pockets for fairy tales. They have them for K-1 and 2-3. I think I got the older one. In my experience these things are pretty adaptable. We'll do them "when the mood strikes"... I don't feel like I have time to put something together from scratch unless it is a core subject. briansmama
You could model characters from the story out of clay, watercolor scenes from the story, re-enact scenes from the story, and/or build castles/cottages/towers/houses/forests from the story. We work with fairy tales throughout K and 1st as our main lesson (Waldorf-inspired here for the early years) and creating from the story really helps my dc sink deeper into it. We also would draw quite a bit from the story. Eventually, the drawings would go with a summary that they would help create and copy into their main lesson books. This is exactly what I'm looking for! Would you care to share some more specifics? :) Thanks everyone! I will check on all of those resources, though I'd love not to spend more money this school year on curriculum (spending on art supplies, however, is ok!)
