cjgrubbs
I have been blogging since 2008 using blogger. Mostly just as a way to keep long distance relatives up to date with kids. I post lots of pictures. Just recently I have hit the free storage limit for Picasa Web Album. I currently can't upload any more pictures. I can upgrade my storage but I don't want to pay $2.49 per month to do that since this blog is not a money making activity. What other options do I have? I'm assuming if I start deleting photos from the Picasa Web Album that they will be removed for their corresponding posts, right? Is there a way to archive these posts so they stay intact with photos and then delete the photos? I do scrapbook also but I always thought my kids would enjoy having the commentary that I've typed along with their photos in future years so I don't really want to delete. Thanks for any advice! Oakblossoms
I use Flickr. You have to pay for it to. You can post from Flickr though which is nice.
TheReader
I just ran into this problem as well. What I found is that you can resize your photos before uploading -- no bigger than 800 x 800 -- and they do not count towards your storage limit, yet are still fine for on-line posting. OR, if you upgrade to Google Plus, you get more free storage and can have photos as large as 2000 x 2000 (something like 2054 really, but whatever); Google+ is free, but links your full name, etc.

Swimtaxi234
I use Photobucket, but I have the pro account. When i first started blogging, I created a Photobucket file for every post, but I later ran into a problem because I used up my "space". If I had created a 2010 file, with months under that, then files within the months, I would have been fine. But since I didn't know to do that, I was going to be forced to move to another web-host, until I came up with the idea of storing my photos by year, then month, then within various files. Now I just pay the yearly fee and don't worry about it. You can resize photos within Photobucket, but I do it on my computer using Microsoft Office Picture Manager that came with my computer. I crop the photos and then resize them before I upload them. On my blog today, I even have a few videos, but I uploaded those directly to Blogger. Parrothead
Flash drive? I have a minimal amount of photos stored online. Most of them are on my computer. Then it doesn't seem to matter if I delete them.
TheReader
TheReader - now I just need to figure out how to resize my photos! I do it in Paint. Open the picture in Paint, click the "resize" icon (it is next to the select all/crop/etc... features), then click "by pixels" instead of "by %" and keep it checked to keep proportions the same. Change one or the other (the longest side) to 800 and it will adjust the other automatically so the photo stays proportionate. Save as... so that your original pic is not now tiny, and then you can upload that little pic to blogger, no problems. Like you, I refuse to pay for extra storage for a blog that's not at all making money; I also didn't want to do Google+, so this was the solution I came up with for now. So far it's working :)
TheReader
Flash drive? I have a minimal amount of photos stored online. Most of them are on my computer. Then it doesn't seem to matter if I delete them. The problem comes in with Blogger specifically; if you upload the photo from your computer to your blogger-hosted blog, (.blogspot blogs), blogger automatically puts it in a Picasa web album they've created for your blog. If you exceed your free limit, you're stuck. And at least in my case, you don't find this out until you go to upload again and get a little message saying "you are over your limit!" But small photos (800 x 800 unless you are on Google+) do not count towards your storage limit, so you can have as many of those as you want. Hen
I use photobucket, I have the free account and only really use it for my blog photos- my storage space is barely up to 2% right now, I have lots of free space available. I prefer using it because people can't right click my photos. You upload the photo and then you can right click a html code for the photo. On your blog, go to html editor mode and paste the code where you want it. Once there, you should be able to downsize the photo or move it if you want, by clicking the photo on your blog, in editor mode.
lisamarie
Weird. I just got that message from blogger last week. I went through and deleted duplicate pictures--and then I realized it was deleting pictures from my actual blog. I then had to go in and reput the pictures back in. I will try the resizing thing and see if that works.

I wonder how close I am to my limit.
Mergath
You're pretty much going to have to pay for any kind of internet storage, unless you have your photos scattered across the web in various smaller free accounts, which would be a hassle. I would just pay. Even if your blog isn't making money, I think it's worth $2.50 a month to have your photos stored.
