My 1 yr old daughter has read through the Blue Fairy Book and LOVED it. I have downloaded the others (all 12 or so) of them and was wondering if anybody knows....are they written at about the same level? I really don't have time to read them all as a preview, so I'm hoping somebody on here has some experience with them.

More or less. A number of different translators/retellers were used, so occasionally the language of a story seems a bit out of place. Blue, Red, and Green are the most similar.

Moira, thanks! I guess I'm just wanting to make sure that they are appropriate for the same age group. Sounds like they are. I'll start her on red and green next.

:iagree: I downloaded them all at once on my Nook for a pretty low price. Might be a good option for some people.

I downloaded the entire collection of 420 stories (organized by book and alphabetically, with a live table of contents!) for only $2.99 on kindle! That's amazing to me. Just thought I'd share!

There are several volumes available for free at Gutenberg Project. It's been a while since I looked at these, but my recollection is that after red, blue, green and yellow, the stories got a little more obscure. Also depending on the edition you pick up, you may find some language that is Victorian and jangles modern ears.

ETA: I can still remember walking into my elementary library and seeing a display of these in new hardback editions. The Blue Fairy Book was my first. I loved the stories and thought the illustrations were some of the prettiest I'd ever seen.
