Dmmetler
We usually decorate right after Thanksgiving and DD's birthday, but this year her birthday was after Thanksgiving, so we didn't do it last weekend, and except for DD's little 2 foot tall pink tree that she's put a bunch of toy snakes on in her bedroom, no one seems to have any real desire to decorate. We're going to be traveling over the holidays anyway, and we don't have an empty weekend, or even an empty weekend day, really from now until Christmas. I'm lukewarm about Christmas in general-having gotten sick on Christmas night and lost a baby on New Years Day kind of puts a damper on the holiday. Kim in Appalachia
I would say it depends on how your kids feel about it. Mine would be devastated, but every home is different. If your kids are fine with it, then take the year off. It can be a present to yourself. :)

SKL
I'd do some decorating at least, for the kids' sake. I might skip the tree (if mine wasn't already up year-round) and other hard stuff, but the easy stuff like a nativity scene, angel trinkets and maybe some indoor garlands would go up. Eventually the Christmas cards received would brighten up the living room. That ought to be enough.
Tracy in Ky
One year when DS was 2, my husband was in law school (so life was crazy) and we were traveling for the holidays, I didn't even put up a tree. My neighbor could hardly believe it, but it just wasn't a good year to do it for us. Take a year off. :grouphug: It sounds like you need it. elegantlion
I would say if your dd doesn't mind, then don't. If the holiday brings back those painful memories, I wouldn't decorate. I'd find a new way to honor the holiday, retain the joy for your dd, maybe do something completely different. I am sorry for your loss. :grouphug:
