Been trying to curriculum plan all spring.

Can you critique this?

Math-Teaching Textbooks Grade 5

English Grammar and Writing- BJU Grade 5

Reading-BJU Grade 5

Spelling- Scott Foresman Grade 5

Vocabulary- Wordly Wise new edition Grade 5

Science- Apologia Flying Creatures on the 5th day

History- SOTW Volume 2

Latin- Prima Latina

What do you all think?

My dd will be 10 in Sept. Would have been going into 4th grade in public school, but will be doing Grade 5 work here. Gr 4 is just to easy for her.

Thank you:lol:

My daughter just finished 4th, so it is still pretty fresh in my mind...LOL

I think your schedule looks very good, are you going to do any type of PE or extra curriculum for music? Those were the only extras I could think of, it looks very nice. Since your daughter is advanced, you might consider adding in some Singapore Challenging Word problems in addition to the TT to make sure she keeps challenged with word type mmath problems.

oops, should have added that.

Piano lessons

Dance 4X a week(She is in her 6th year)

I will look into Singapore. I was actually thinking of that myself :001_smile:

Thanks so much:D

With the dance and piano, I definitely think you have a wonderfully rounded curriculum. If you do use the Singapore Challenging Word problems, and you have not used them before, I would suggest getting them a year or two behind where she is in math and then working your way up.

If you say Gr 4 is too easy for your daughter, Teaching Textbooks Gr 5 may be easy for her. Did you take the placement test to see what grade level she can start?

Just a thought, Prima Latina, will be really easy too unless you plan to go through the book in let's say about 3 months and she moves up to Latina Christiana I. How's her grammar background? The reason why I'm asking is based on her age she can even start with Galore Park's Latin Prep 1.

For history with SOTW Vol. 2, are you going to add readers or additional book?

Otherwise, I thought the basis are all covered.

Hi

Yes, we took the placement test and she tested into TT 5.

Yes, we are going to use additional books with SOTW 2.

Prima Latina, seems perfect ffor her. Her grammar is good, so we should be able to get through it by Christmas and move onto Latina Christiana.

I am worried about SOTW 2, I hope it is going to be informitive and enjoyable. If anyone has used this, would love to hear feedback on it.

Thank you:001_smile:
