TrixieB
I have never used an ipad. Can you make a document on an ipad? Something that is equivalent to say, a Word document? If so, can you somehow transfer it to a laptop so it can be printed out? Or can you hook up a regular home printer to an ipad? If you can transfer a document to a laptop, can you transfer it back to the ipad?
Mrs Mungo
Yes. I have pages on my iPad. I can put documents on the cloud and work on them from my desktop or my iPad. I can also print directly to my wireless printer from my iPad. I work on things all of the time on my iPad while out and about.
TrixieB
Is pages an app you have to buy, or does it come with the ipad?
nukeswife
Pages is an app you have to pay for. I think it was $19.
jelbe5
Pages is an app. It is 9.99. Other worthwhile apps are Numbers (spreadsheet) and Keynote (PowerPoint). They are also 9.99 each.
nukeswife
That's right the ipad app for Pages is only $9.99, the one for my macbook was $19.

Tracy in Ky
I didn't buy Pages because it was so difficult to move docs to Dropbox from Pages. Is there an easy way to do that now? I use Doc2HD but would like to use Pages. Does Pages keep up with word count as you type? That is something that Doc2HD does not do, but I rely on wordcount heavily for some of my client work. Tracy in Ky
I'd also like to know :) I just read a review on iTunes that says Pages now lets you upload to Dropbox! I may have to get this today!
Saraswati
Genius Scan is also a handy tool with (already existing) documents. It's a free app - it allows you to shoot a pic of a paper document, and it turns it into a pdf. It has an edge trimmer on it, so if you have a little more in the photo, you just chop it off and your doc will have clean lines. Then, you can file them right in the app and email them out. I have a wireless WiFi printer from HP: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP---Photosmart-7520-Wireless-e-All-In-One-Printer/6558876.p?id=1218754593432&skuId=6558876 It allows me to print from my laptop, iPads and iPhones from wherever I may be working from in the house. Giraffe
Just checked and yes, you can enable word count on Pages. It is in settings.
crazyforlatin
I just bought Epson 3540, which is one of those all-in-one printers with WiFi so that I can print from a tablet. I may have to consider Pages now. I have been creating very simple documents using Notability app, but these are basic Latin sentences for translation purposes, so nothing fancy. I think Pages can be used to create PDF documents, correct? But I don't think it can be emailed to your PC and saved as a Word doc, correct? Well, considering what I spent to try out all the PDF apps, $10 for Pages seem reasonable. I was hoping for a MS Word compatible app however. jelbe5
I just checked Pages on my iPad. When you go to email the Pages document you have the option of converting it to a PDF or Word document or leaving it in Pages format.
