Kipling
My DH has a new job with a fairly long commute. He's mentioned wanting audiobooks to listen to while driving, so I looked in to some sites that do audiobooks Netflix-style (audiobooks.com, theaudiobookstore.com, booksfree.com). I want to get him a subscription for Christmas. Has anyone used any of these sites or something like them? Do you have any suggestions? Tracy in Ky
I use Audible and love it. I use the $22 / month plan and get 2 audio books each month.
NavyMommy
I got one for Christmas last year from my MIL. I think it was from audiobooks.com. It was a really great idea, and there weren't any problems with the service, but it wasn't for me. I'm always with the kids in the car and they're still so young I couldn't listen to any grown up type books. I think I listened to 2 over the course of the 6 months. It was a great service though, when I returned one I got an immediate email confirming they received it and a notice of the next one shipped. They were shipped quickly and packaged well. ILiveInFlipFlops
You might want to check with your local library or a nearby system that you could get a membership to. Our library participates in an e-library system where members can download as many audiobooks as they like for free--no late charges, even. Plus, our library has loads of books on CD, and we have access to thousands more via ILL. Even if you had to pay for a membership to a different library system, it might save you money over Audible or the like.

I have not run out of books yet!

You have to be a little bit flexible, I am usually listening to 2 or 3 series at a time so if a book isn't available from one series, I can get one from another series. besroma
My DH *loves* audible.com. He listens to a wide range of audiobooks and says that he has learned so much from them. When discussing ways to cut our monthly expenses, I asked about moving from getting two books per month to one book per month. He very quickly stated that he would rather cut back anywhere else! :D
