It was about explicitly teaching grammar so kids could write, and it detailed the huge writing improvements when kids were given detailed and explicit instruction. The gist was that it was in a disadvantaged school, but after they were given specific instruction on grammar and on the meanings of transition words, among other things, they could express complex thought in a way no one had ever taught them before. No, the article is by someone else-but the main points of the article are very similar to what SWB has been saying about writing instruction in general for years and years...
