Mom-ninja. Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I need a new dryer. Merry Christmas to me. These things are programed to break down during the holiday season aren't they? :glare: It's been awhile since I've shopped for a new dryer. What is this steam function option? Useful? Waste of money? I do want to buy a sensor dry machine, but I don't know about the steam. It ups the price. Quote
Chris in VA Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 We have it on ours. One is a steam "freshening" cycle, and one is some sort of steam "sterilizing" thingy--not sterilzing, but something like that. Anyway, I tried the longer cycle on pillows and they smelled a little burned or something. The freshening one was ok. I wouldn't really go for it again. You can de-wrinkle something just by throwing it in with a damp towel. That's good enough for me. Quote
Mom-ninja. Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 Thanks. That's what I was thinking. I've gotten along without steam function before this and I'll manage fine without it. Quote
somo_chickenlady Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Our dryer has a steam function, basically just for removing wrinkles from dry clothing. I have only used it a handful of times in the past two years that we have had it, and just regular dry heat works well enough for that function, so I probably wouldn't get it again. Quote
