laundrycrisis
I am currently unable to get my searches with this question to work since the platform change, so I can't get to any of the previous threads about this. I am very seriously considering Verticy Writing for DS1, even though it is late in the year to add something new. I would like to find out from others how helpful the ATS option is specifically for Verticy Writing, with a student with serious issues with written expression. Is it worth the extra cost ? At this grade level, I don't care about having the ATS in order to get a certificate or anything - I could just really use some support in this area. I am not a strong writing instructor in the best of circumstances, and I am struggling to teach writing to a child who has a pretty severe problem with written language. Thank you... laundrycrisis
I am thinking I may have him do the orange level without the ATS and see how it goes. But I would like to know what kind of help the ATS provides for the yellow level of writing, if anyone has used it.

AliR
DD started with Verticy orange, has completed yellow, is half way through green. We have used ATS throughout. I think the biggest advantage is in having someone look at my daughter's work who is used to seeing written work from children with language problems. Although her work is more complicated now, strangely enough it is easier for me to judge than it was at the beginning of our journey. You can opt to take ATS up to the point of being 20 lessons in to the program, so you could always defer this decision until you have all the materials and have made a start on the curriculum. You will also have all the ATS tests regardless of whether you enrol for ATS (they are in the back of the lesson manual), so you could better judge whether you can do the grading yourself.
