Pompeii exhibit at Denver Museum

Recommended Posts

I went the other day and it was really wonderful. The art, particularly the statues were breathtaking. I did not talk to any of the actors, but the families with kids seemed to really be enjoying them.

There were 3 or 4 videos, two which had multiple benches for seating. One showed the town before, during, and after the eruption.

The skeletons from Herculaneum and the casts from Pompeii were, well interesting I guess, but it was at the end of the exhibit and they affected me in a way I hadn't thought they would. I didn't look too closely. There were 1 or 2 dog casts as well.

I know someone asked earlier, but I can't find the thread. There were a few things that I heard other adults complaining about. There was a fresco showing a woman with two men and there were some lamps that had, among other art work, an erect walking phallus, a man and woman in bed, and I don't remember what else. There are signs pointing out what you're looking at. They didn't bother me and they were easy enough to walk by if you wanted, but I did hear some complaints from other people there.

I really enjoyed it and would recommend going!

On to Van Gogh tomorrow!
