DarlaS
Is it me, or are they jacking up their prices so the discounts look more impressive? I have a pretty good memory, and these prices do not look familiar to me. Was the human anatomy course really over $500? Astronomy $800? :bored:

Astronomy is 96 lectures - so I would expect it to be four times as expensive as a 24 lectures course.
DarlaS
So what you're saying is you don't think any have gone up significantly recently? Because it sounds like you're asking if I can read or something. I've seen the longer courses. I get a couple catalogs a week or so. I was simply asking if anyone else thought some had just gone up. I've actually had my eye on that anatomy course for some time. I knew it was expensive, but didn't think it was THAT expensive. I have shelves of their courses. I'm about to hit the buy button on another. Now I wish I'd saved some old catalogs. I hope they aren't going to start employing that particular marketing tactic. I did not mean to offend; *I* was not aware that this is such a long course, and it just occurred to me that maybe, perhaps, you might have overlooked that. I have not noticed the prices going up because I never look at the original prices; to me, they are irrelevant since I would never buy a course that is not discounted. I look solely on the sale prices and compare the cheapest prices. Over the last four years, since I became a customer, I have not noticed those increase. So, sorry, I don't know if the original prices go up. I just know the lowest sale prices are remaining at about the same level.

I keep getting awakened much too early by allergies this week. :bored: Yeah, nobody I know pays those prices. I"m getting a little attached to this company, but really, why not just pick a reasonable price and leave it alone? And the catalogs!! I've got to remember to get off their snail mail list. That's when it really costs me as my kids get their hands on them. How can you say no when your dd wants Daily Life in the Ancient World? :tongue_smilie:
Tammi K
I recently read their explanation that it is expensive to produce the course so each course is discounted at least once a year and then produced in bulk. I just ordered Life in the Ancient World!

I just ordered Life in the Ancient World! Have you started watching it yet? I just love the lecture titles on this one: "On being a Dead Egyptian" etc. I think my dd watched the first several lectures the first two days we had it. She's not one to sit and listen either, so I was surprised. There are good visuals though, and I think she likes his accent. The new photography course is looking good so far too, The presenter is very good at what he does and at explaining it. I really do buy a lot of these. One of these days they're going to get their own bookshelf (Silly complaint: I do wish they'd make all the course guidebooks and dvd cases the same size. They do for some, maybe they're the newer ones.).

Everything I bought new has standard size DVD cases and course books of the same size; with the exception of the workbook for the chemistry course which is a larger format.
